REIGN OF GRACE
I Peter 5: 5-12
“..All of you, clothe yourselves with humility toward one
another, because, ‘God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble.’ Humble
yourselves, therefore, under God’s mighty hand, that he may lift you up in due
time. Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you. Be self-controlled
and alert. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for
someone to devour. Resist him, standing firm in the faith, because you know
that your brothers throughout the world are undergoing the same kind of
sufferings. And the God of all grace, who called you to his eternal glory in
Christ, after you have suffered a little while, will himself restore you and
make you strong, firm, and steadfast. To Him be the power for ever and ever.
Amen……. I have written to you briefly, encouraging you and testifying that this
is the *true grace of God. Stand fast in it.”

Here Peter speaks of the “true grace of God”. If we are to
have abundant life experiencing the Kingdom and reaching out to influence
others, we need to understand this grace. Walking in this grace involves:
- Submissive. We need a submissive heart to accomplish the mission God gives. A submissive heart to God and to one another. It is not about our agenda, but His agenda. God gives the grace to be submissive and to come together for Kingdom purpose.
- Humility. To walk in humility means that we look to God, and not our own strength, to meet our needs. God gives grace to lean on Him.
- Cast our cares. To walk in grace means to give our cares to Him. The cares of life choke out the word and make it unfruitful. God gives grace to cast our cares on Him so we may go forth and accomplish His purpose.
- To understand your enemy. When you attempt to walk out the Kingdom, you will experience resistance from the devil. By the divine enabling power of His grace, we may discern the devil’s work and resist.
- To remember that others are encountering the same sufferings. To use this grace is to know you are not alone. As we overcome in battle, our authority in Christ increases.
Peter wanted to encourage us by sharing concerning the “true
grace of God” and what it means to walk in it. May we all live in God’ grace. More grace
God…..
